URochester Sites gives University-affiliated websites room to exist outside the primary University web structure without drifting away from the standards that make our digital presence stronger.
Each site is built on WordPress on Rochester Core, giving site owners a supported foundation for creating accessible, brand-aligned, and easier-to-maintain websites. That means more flexibility for the people sharing their work, and a more consistent, measurable, and sustainable web ecosystem for the University.
What URochester Sites supports
URochester Sites is designed for University-affiliated websites that need a supported place to live outside the primary University web structure. Some sites are easy to categorize. Others are harder to place. This space is built for both.

Each site is built with a streamlined version of Rochester Core, the University’s official WordPress theme, giving site owners a supported structure for building accessible, brand-aligned pages.
Rochester Core components and Siteimprove reporting help site owners identify and address accessibility issues as they maintain their content.
Sites use a shared URochester design system, helping them feel connected to the University while still giving each site room for its own purpose and audience.
The University’s standard analytics script is included by default, creating more consistent visibility into how these sites are being used.
Site owners and editors are connected to required training through their URIDs, helping keep access, expectations, and responsibilities current.
Ownership, annual training, analytics, and Siteimprove reporting help keep sites active, accurate, and easier to manage over time.
